The position at a glance

Summer Analyst – North America Mobility Program

The position is part of a structured Investment Banking development program that is designed to build deep transactional experience and prepare participants for future opportunities within the organization. Summer analysts will work across industry teams to help support origination efforts. Successful candidates who are converted to full-time Analysts will join a 3-year program during which participants will gain progressive responsibilities across a range of mandates. 

Openness to geographic mobility, specifically to our New York office is an essential requirement of a continuation of the role after the conclusion of the program, subject to business needs and individual performance. This program is designed to enhance analyst capacity while building a scalable talent bench for our U.S. franchise. The Montreal team will function as an integrated extension of the U.S. platform, providing support to U.S.-based Bankers.

Key program objectives:

  • Deliver high quality support to U.S. sector and advisory teams 
  • Build a sustainable analyst talent base supporting U.S. deal teams
  • Serve as a long term talent pipeline for New York. Employees may be eligible for transfer after the culmination of the Montreal Analyst Program, subject to business needs and individual performance

In detail

  • Support the North America Unified Sector and Advisory platform with the origination of investment banking transactions 
  • Prepare presentations and contribute to deal pitches, including research and analysis of companies and industries
  • Support Advisory activities, including coordinating will all parties involved
  • Assist in preparing complex financial models, including valuation and merger consequences analysis
  • Provide industry intelligence and competitive analysis for potential opportunities, and assist in scoping potential deals 
  • Work in close partnership with various Managing Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents, Associates, and Analysts to manage client relationships and deliverables 
  • Establish effective working relationships and build credibility with internal constituents throughout the organization

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation year of Fall 2027 – Spring 2028 with a demonstrated record of academic excellence
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Team player, self-motivated and entrepreneurial
  • Detail oriented with a complete focus on quality results/deliverables
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English*
  • Experience across all aspects of the Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Core understanding of accounting and valuation 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior Investment Banking experience at an investment bank with exposure to M&A, ECM or Leveraged Finance
