Montreal, Canada, April 13, 2020 – BNP Paribas, a premier global bank, announces additional global aid for the medical sector and at risk populations fighting the COVID-19 virus with donations now totaling over $76 million (€50 million) worldwide.

BNP Paribas and its subsidiaries around the world mobilized from the start of the health crisis to support the hospital system, medical research and institutions that help the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.

BNP Paribas in Canada is making the following donations to local hospitals and food bank organizations:

Montréal

·        CHUM – Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal to help the CHUM Research for the Québec COVID Biobank, an urgent study on the determinants of COVID-19 infection and its morbidity and mortality. 

·        Moisson Montréal, member of Food Banks Canada and Food Banks of Quebec serving 257 community organizations.

Toronto

·        Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation, through its Rest Safe Program, which will help support the health and well-being of courageous frontline care providers.

·        Second Harvest, which provides food used in shelters, faith-based organizations, food banks, community organizations and other programs that support over 500,000 of the most vulnerable and marginalized populations in the Greater Toronto Area.

The bank is also contributing:

·        Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): over 7,000 masks to Quebec Health Authorities for hospitals facing PPE shortages in Montreal.

·        Employee Match option: BNP Paribas employees in Canada will have an opportunity to make a personal donation to the organizations listed above which the bank will match.

·        Additional support for existing charitable partners: BNP Paribas has committed additional support to current charitable partners in Montreal and Toronto who provide essential relief services to some of the most disadvantaged individuals.

Montreal, Canada, November 12, 2019 – BNP Paribas, a premier global banking partner, today announced that following several years of rapid growth at its Montreal operations, it will be moving its Canadian main office from McGill College Avenue to 2001 Robert Bourassa Boulevard this fall.

In addition to its growing Canadian client business, BNP Paribas’ Montreal operations have become an important operating platform for the group’s regional and global operations. “Given the growth of our Montreal operations with close to 1,000 employees, it was important to redesign our offices and bring our employees together into a new space adapted to the realities and efficiencies of today’s working environment with a more open layout that fosters collaboration,’’ says Sonja Volpe, Principal Officer and CEO of BNP Paribas in Canada.

Several key features of the new Montreal office include:

Tablée-des-chefs2On June 16th, for the second consecutive year, the association la Tablée des Chefs welcomed 36 employees from BNP PARIBAS at the Jean Talon market, in Montreal.

This non for profit organization aims at feeding families in need and educating young generations by developing their food autonomy.

During the whole morning, the employees cooked 189 portions of food for the association la Maisonnette des Parents, a local association providing services including food distribution to needy families.

BNP Paribas is proud to be engaged in Montreal and Toronto charities, where it operates,and to contribute to the development of its local environment. This event was organized as part of the Group CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy. Earlier this year, the BNP Paribas employees devoted part of their time to the Ronald Mc Donald House in Toronto.

Inauguration of Mix City Canada

Launched in France 5 years ago, the non profit organization BNP Paribas Mix City has expanded to several countries in North America, in Europe and in Asia. The Canadian chapter was inaugurated last June 5th, in the presence of the Head of Territory, Monique Vialatou, as well as the North America COO, Bruno d’Illiers. This business networking group has already more than 60 members.

Mix City gathers employees of BNP Paribas, women and men, who aim at promoting the development, advancement, recognition, recruitment and retention of women in the BNP Paribas workplace and beyond.

The launch of Mix City Canada is perfectly in line with the BNP Paribas commitments in terms of social responsibility, as the Group aims at encouraging diversity while valuing each individual and respecting all differencies.

Paul-Mortimer-LeeLast January 6th, BNP Paribas sponsored a panel discussion on the 2015 economic outlook organized in Toronto by the Economic Club of Canada.

This annual Economic Outlook brought together a panel of Canada’s Economists from seven of the largest financial institutions of Canada, including BNP Paribas.

Paul Mortimer-Lee, the Bank’s Chief Economist North America, presented his views on the economic outlook for 2015 and shared a European perspective on the global economy for the year ahead.

“Deflation in Europe will be a big headline in the coming weeks,” Paul said, stressing that “currency will be a big challenge for the British and Eastern Europeans.”

24h-Tremblant12 employees of BNP Paribas in Canada attended this month the 14th edition of the Tremblant’s 24h ski and contributed to collect funds for several foundations.

The Tremblant 24h of skiing is a relay challenge lasting one whole day and organized at the Tremblant ski resort. It aims at collecting funds for the benefit of children. In its 24th edition, 201 teams registered, accounting for 2300 attendees, a new record.

BNP Paribas was present at this event. 12 participants skied down the slope 91 times, sometime at a speed exceeding 100km/hour. Thanks to their generosity and the various fundraising events organized these past weeks, the team collected 3,600.00 $. Overall, 2,302,643.00 $ were collected during that event.

Moisson-Montreal6On Thursday, December 4, around forty employees of BNP Paribas helped the main Canadian food bank, Moisson Montreal, in its collection, sorting and distribution activities. In the space of half a day, the employees prepared several pallets of food boxes, which have been distributed on the Montreal’s island by local community organizations.

Through its centre for collecting, sorting and distributing emergency food assistance, Moisson Montréal allocates nearly 1,000 tons of food per month to 230 accredited community organizations on the Island of Montreal. In turn, these organizations provide food assistance to 140,000 people, including 40,000 children.

These figures remind BNP Paribas of the great importance of corporate commitment within Canadian communities, and particularly along with Moisson Montreal, which operates every day with the help of many volunteers.
