Business Overview:

Americas CIB Transversal Operation Permanent Control (“OPC”) team is responsible for strengthening and aligning the OPC teams embedded in our businesses by standardizing and implementing a consistent methodology across the region, and ensuring ongoing monitoring.

  

Position overview:

The position is created as part of extended team headed in New York and localized in Montreal part of the regional set up to support the Canada local operational risk. The CIB Americas Transversal Operational Permanent Control Team has a broad range of responsibilities, overseeing the operational control related activities in various perimeters like front offices, Operations, and functions like Finance and others. This includes among other tasks: control design and testing, control performance reporting, risk assessment, audit recommendations follow-up. Transversal OPC is looking for a candidate who will support the local platform on all operational risk matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Being responsible for the coordination of the first line of defense on the Canada perimeter on the local operational risk matters (RCSA exercise, RCL, etc)
  • Support the local COO and CEO for Op Risk local/ICC committees (update on Historical incidents, control results, recommendations etc) under the supervision of the local TOPC manager and in liaison with 2LOD.
  • Participating actively to the team’s task and duties for monthly retrieval, review, testing, and monitoring of permanent control information (controls on controls, Key Risk Indicators…).
  • Ensuring that follow up points are addressed and actioned by the issue owner prior to the Internal Control Committee
  • Actively preparation and proof meeting dashboards.
  • Periodically re-assessing the control testing scope and presentation of the testing results to enhance the monthly report as needed.

Capacity to introduce automation in regular reporting and enhance efficiency in the day to day tasks.

Minimum Required Qualifications : 

University degree –  Business or Finance

 Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience
  • Project Management skills
  • Previous experience in external audit, internal audit or a control/risk team
  • Tenacity and intellectual curiosity to identify and resolve the root causes of issues
  • Adopt a positive approach, rising to the challenge of stretching objectives and requirements striving to achieve them within agreed deadlines and standards
  • Add value through independent mindset
  • Proficiency in productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), BI tools (Power Bi, Tableau)
  • Good analytical skills and end user technical skills and a practical approach to applying them
