The position at a glance

The RISK function of BNP Paribas constitutes the Second Line of Defense of the Bank. It aims at independently reviewing, assessing, challenging and communicating on the level of risk generated by the various business lines and activities within the Group. Hence, RISK both protects and serves the bank by acting as a key contributor to its long-term development.

In this transversal role, you will assist the RISK Americas Permanent Operational Control Charge to carry out its mission. You will interact with the Region and the Group to ensure that best practices are aligned.

In detail

You will interact with the Region and the Group to ensure that best practices are aligned. Your daily routine includes the following projects:

·         Contribute to the control of operational risks for RISK teams in the Americas

·         Implement and maintain risk mapping and maintain it (RCSA)

·         Ensure that the requirements of Group procedures are implemented locally, supplemented by local specificities (regulations, organizational tools)

·         Ensure control plans are in place, analyze results and monitor action plans

·         Management of historical incidents (including near misses) and potential incidents

·         Notification/receipt of reports, monitoring of findings and recommendations issued internally or externally.

·         Support the validation process for exceptional transactions, new product, activity or process validation committees (e.g. TAC/NAC) and monitoring of implementation

·         Alerting and reporting to line management concerns all operational risk incidents as well as to independent control functions

Contributes to business continuity management of RISK teams in the Americas, to business impact analysis and disaster recovery in coordination with local Territory management

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

TRAINING AND OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE
  • Student completing their Bachelor’s degree in the following fields: Commerce, Management, Finance or Economics.
  • Office experience required ideally in the banking environment (but not necessary)
  • Experience working with cross functional and multi – cultural teams strongly preferred
  • Fluent in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Knowledge in Data visualization tool (PowerBI) or coding language is a plus (Sas, VBA)
    (but not necessary)
  • Keen interest in following the evolving banking industry trends

 Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited Canadian post-secondary program
  • Must be able to work in the local premises
  • Be 18 and over
  • Have at least one more semester left after completion of internship
