The position at a glance

BNP 2S Canada is looking for an ambitious fresh mind to provide support to the fund accounting department by managing daily NAV calculation and support function tasks. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain accounting books of Mutual funds. Login time will be from 9am to 8pm CET

In detail

The Fund Accounting Supervisor is responsible for the activity of the team in charge of the accounting and production of the funds NAV and the management of expenses.

  • Contribute to develop and communicate department risk policies, procedures, and best practices in order to reduce operational risk.  
  • Assess existing processes and create new ones that most effectively anticipate, manage, and reduce risk.
  • Work with Supervisors and Seniors to ensure adherence to established departmental procedures and quality standards.
  • Act as liaison with other Operations teams as well as clients.
  • Contribute to develop business requirements and review functional specifications needed to support the implementation of system enhancements and new projects.
  • Work with Operational teams to coordinate all aspects of projects, including developing project proposals, business requirement, and ensure the smooth integration into departmental workflows. 
  • Establish and maintain communication with all departments and individuals involved in assigned projects, including coordinating external vendors and consultants as appropriate.
  • Ensure high quality of work from the team by focusing on problem resolution and escalation of issues.
  • Support team through frequent, open, and clear communication and by providing training and development opportunities.   
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, termination, salary actions and other personnel issues.
  • Ensure Conduct governance is fully operational, as per standard guidelines: Conduct is a standard item at the agenda of management or team meetings, conduct dilemma are well managed and documented, the escalation process is in place.
  • Assumes additional duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the English language is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance or equivalent.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in the use of Middle-to-Back Office platforms offering IBOR/ABOR functionalities (SimCorp Dimension, Multifonds, SS&C HiPortfolio, Calypso, Blackrock Aladdin, Bloomberg AIMS…).
  • 2 to 5 years of experience related to US mutual fund, accounting, or audit experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in the Financial Services sector, specifically in the Investment Management, Funds Services or Securities Services industry including knowledge of investment strategies and markets and understanding of security types (including derivatives).
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in the Financial Services sector, specifically in the Investment Management, Funds Services or Securities Services industry including knowledge of investment strategies and markets and understanding of security types (including derivatives).
  • 2-3 years of experience working with fixed income and derivative instruments strongly preferred.
  • 2-3 years of people management experience.
  • Competent and sufficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc…).
  • Demonstrated client service delivery mentality toward both internal and external clients. In order to do so, you will follow the US calendar. 
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems positively and professionally.
  • Proven excellence in leadership, team development and team building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver process improvements to maintain or increase quality and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated client service delivery mentality toward both internal and external clients. In order to do so, you will follow the US calendar.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working on SimCorp Dimension, Multifonds & SS&C HiPortfolio for IBOR/ABOR functionalities.
  • Experience supporting US 40 Act Fund Accounting activities.
  • Advanced competency with market data applications (Bloomberg) and Excel.
  • Detailed understanding of the Front-to-Back Office functions and workflows of the Investment Management & Funds Services industry.
  • Experience working in international environment and with different locations.
  • Well-developed skills in prioritization, organization, decision making, time management and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Team leader with a proven ability to train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate team dynamics.
  • Experience working in international environment and with different locations.
