Professional Ethics
- Implement activities related to gifts and invitations, dealing with topics on conflicts of interest and outside business activities for the Canadian platform.
- Perform due diligence on requests related outside business activities and provide metrics on a regular basis to the OBA team based in New York.
- Collaborate regularly with the Personal Account Dealing (PAD) team, based in NYC.
- Ensure that procedures and processes are sufficient to monitor such activities, and are in line with standards and requirements issued by BNP Paribas Group.
Protection of Interests of Clients
- Oversee the implementation of various measures related to the Protection of Interests of Clients at the Bank, especially in terms of local legal and regulatory context.
- Oversee the complaint handling process for Canada and make sure that all complaints are handled in the boundary of the legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that proper feedback is provided to Committees.
- Complete related self-assessments, ensure that client complaints are managed correctly and that related information is passed on.
Transversal Duties
- Coordinate Legislative and Regulatory requirements under the responsibility of Compliance.
- Ensure that the list of procedures that the Bank must apply is kept up to date.
- Assist and advice on the permanent controls in assigned domains.
- Perform regulatory controls by collecting evidences (control results, procedures, etc.) for various requirements (CDS, Bank of Canada, etc.).
- Advice Business Lines, functions, Middle & Back offices and Senior Management on all compliance matters under his/her responsibility.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Five years’ experience in Compliance or operational banking sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in law, or administration).
- Knowledge of banking regulations and practices with regard to international transactions.
- Knowledge of banking products and financial instruments
- Working knowledge of standard computer tools.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both French and English.
- Critical thinking and judgement.
- Analytical skills and rigor.
